SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The parents of a young teacher killed in a car wreck are speaking out about his death.

Micah Kaplan, 25, was a physical education teacher at Desert Sage Elementary School and worked a second job for Bose, the sound company.

He was reportedly driving back from his second job in Scottsdale Sunday afternoon when he was involved in a fatal wreck near the Loop 101 and 56th Street in north Phoenix.

Police said Kaplan swerved across several lanes of traffic before crashing into a pole. Detectives believe he may have tried to take the exit too late.

Kaplan was a graduate of Cactus High School and Grand Canyon University.

Nancy Kaplan said her son was passionate about soccer, teaching and his wife, Susanna. He worked the two jobs to help put her through nursing school and proposed to her as she successfully battled ovarian cancer.
