Man robbed at Mesa drive-up ATM, armed suspect on the loose

MESA, Ariz. -- An armed robbery suspect is on the loose after robbing a man at a Bank of America drive-up ATM.

It happened at about 11:30 Saturday night. The victim said he had just taken $40 from the machine at the bank on McKellips Road east of Recker Road. That's when the suspect ran up to his car.

According to the victim, the suspect was wearing a ski mask and had a handgun. The suspect took the victim's money and then ran south into the neighborhood.

Police set up a perimeter and brought in K9 units to help with the search, but they came up empty.

The suspect is described as a white male between 20 and 30 years old. He's 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds, and was wearing a checkered sweater and khaki pants.

There was no report of a vehicle at or near the scene.

The victim was not injured during the robbery.
