PHOENIX -- A man who was convicted of sexually abusing a woman and stomping her to death two years ago was sentenced to prison on Thursday.
Jose Preciliano Quintero was sentenced to 25 years to life for first-degree murder in the death of Helen Coulter in December 2008.
Quintero was 16 years old when he was arrested for the crime.
Police said Coulter had called Quintero a racial slur after some type of run-in and Quintero killed her in a fit of rage. Police found Coulter's body in a vacant lot near 24th Street and Broadway Road in Phoenix.
Quintero admitted dragging Coulter to the vacant lot, stomping on her and sexually abusing her. An autopsy revealed Coulter died of blunt-force trauma.
Quintero also received 21 years for kidnapping and 2.5 years for sexual abuse to run consecutively.
