John Hays, SCC Floodplain Coordinator, says newly revised maps to predict the course of water that would spill from Santa Cruz County waterways in a 100-year flood have gone through the final review and comment phase.  He says FEMA now has six months to determine if any further revisions are needed before signing off on the maps.  He says the maps determine the risk of flooding and the cost of flood insurance for different zones, and such maps are also required for the county to participate in the federally subsidized flood insurance program.
