SURPRISE, Ariz. – Police say a man robbed a bank wearing a Halloween mask but left all the cash in a parking lot nearby.

The suspect entered the AmTrust bank on the 14000 block of west Grand Avenue in Surprise Monday just after 11 a.m. and allegedly pointed a handgun at a teller demanding cash.

The man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash to a parking lot next to the bank where he was seen driving away in a black or dark blue late-model Chevy Impala.

As police searched for evidence they found all the cash taken during the robbery in the parking lot.

It’s unclear why the suspect left the money behind. He is described as a man standing about 6-feet 6-inches tall. He was wearing dark clothes and dark boots at the time of the robbery.

Surprise police Sgt. Mark Ortega said there are many similarities to an October robbery at the bank and the FBI is investigating. At this time, however, police have not confirmed it is the same suspect.

Surprise police and the FBI are asking anyone who may have additional information on this robbery to contact authorities by calling 623-222-4000.
