Cat shuts down power to part of TucsonPosted: Updated:
TEP shut down power to 2,500 customers near the area of Flowing Wells and Roger Monday afternoon, because of a cat.
The cat climbed a power pole, and had been sitting there reportedly since Saturday. TEP did check the scene Sunday, but did not attempt a rescue.
Finally a citizen tried to climb the pole to get the cat, and that was when TEP stepped in. The outage only lasted five minutes, and the cat was safely rescued.
When asked whether it would try to recover money from the cat's owner for the manpower used and the de-energizing of the line TEP had no comment.
