MESA, Ariz. -- Police are searching for a man who robbed a Mesa hotel Friday night.

Mesa police officers responded to an armed robbery at the Quality Inn near Country Club Drive and Southern Avenue shortly before 8 p.m.

According to Mesa police Detective Steve Berry, a man armed with a handgun entered the lobby of the hotel and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled the scene on foot with an unknown amount of money.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male in his mid-30s, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, 210 pounds with thin facial hair. He was wearing jeans, a black sweatshirt and black tennis shoes with white shoelaces at the time of the robbery.

Berry said the suspect was wearing gloves during the incident so fingerprints were not obtained.
