Girls extricated from under car after being struck in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Two girls were hit by a car while riding in a "buggy" being towed by their father's bicycle in north Phoenix.
Police say the two girls, ages 3 and 5 years old, were in a crosswalk being pulled by their father's bike near Tatum Road and Grovers when they were struck by an SUV Thursday during rush hour.
Authorities say the driver was making a left-hand turn onto Tatum Road and struck them after being blinded by the sunlight.
Both kids reportedly were pinned and had to be extricated from under the car.
One of the girls suffered a broken leg. Both of them suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Their 8-year-old brother was riding in another bicycle and was not injured.
Police say they do not believe drug or alcohol were factors in this crash.
