A University of Arizona student is in critical condition after she got hit by a car while trying to cross the street Wednesday morning near campus.

According to Tucson police, a Toyota Corolla headed east on speedway slammed into a Chevy Cavalier turning left onto Mountain Avenue.

The crash sent the Corolla onto the sidewalk where it collided with the 21-year-old.

"Upon arrival officers had to remove the 2009 Toyota Corolla that had pinned the victim up against the building there," said Lt. Fabian Pacheco from the Tucson Police Department.

No charges filed at last check, but TPD's traffic unit hasn't wrapped up the investigation.
