Freezing morning gives way to chilly dayPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued a freeze warning for central Arizona this morning. That warning expired at 9 a.m.
Affected areas include portions of Maricopa, Pinal and Yuma Counties including the greater Phoenix area.
The towns of Maricopa, Casa Grande, Gila Bend, Tacna and Wickenburg are included in the warning area.
Forecasters say overnight temperatures have the potential to drop below freezing for several hours and could fall into the mid 20s in normally colder and isolated areas.
Cold-sensitive plants will be harmed if left uncovered and exposed plumbing also runs the risk of being damaged.
In addition, pets should be brought inside or given adequate shelter if possible.
