Driver faces manslaughter charge after collision with motorcycle in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale police spent hours on the scene of a fatal traffic collision that took place at 124th Street and Shea Boulevard at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday. 

Police said a motorcycle traveling westbound on Shea struck a BMW passenger vehicle as it turned left from eastbound Shea onto northbound 124th Street.

The driver of the motorcycle, Eric Ziemba, 24, was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the BMW, Sharolyn Medina, 45, was arrested for DUI and is facing a charge of manslaughter.

Shea Boulevard was closed to westbound traffic between 130th Street and 120th Street until midnight for the investigation.
