Woman arrested after holding teen, mom at gunpoint in Chandler

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Chandler police arrested a woman for robbing a teen and holding a mom at gunpoint on Monday afternoon in the area of Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.

According to police, Jessica Ann Vaughn, 20, pointed a gun at a 15-year-old girl walking home from school and stole her cell phone.

Then later on that afternoon, Vaughn attempted to rob a 38-year-old mother who was putting her two children in the back seat of her car.

The second victim was able to fight off Vaughn.

Vaughn fled in a vehicle, but not before witnesses obtained her license plate number.

About 90 minutes after the first robbery, Chandler police located Vaughn near Frye Road and Hidalgo Street where she was taken into custody without incident.

According to a police report, when Vaugn was fleeing the second scene she backed into a another vehicle. The police report also stated the weapon was a pellet gun modified to look like a handgun.

Vaughn admitted to police that she was involved in both incidents.

Vaughn was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault as well as one misdemeanor hit-and-run.
