SUV hits, kills woman crossing Phoenix streetPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A 60-year-old woman who had just cashed in a lottery ticket was hit and killed by an SUV near 35th and Glendale avenues in Phoenix Monday afternoon.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., Dolores H. Trujillo was walking home from a convenience store at 35th and Myrtle avenues after cashing in a winning $10 lottery ticket for her husband, according to Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump.
Crump said Trujillo was in a crosswalk on 35th Avenue when a Toyota 4Runner hit her.
Witnesses said the driver, identified as Greg Shepherd, 50, swerved around other cars that had stopped for her.
Crump said impairment did not seem to be a factor. No citations have been issued, but police are continuing the investigation.
