A man was shot after he came to the aid of a woman being robbed at gunpoint on the east side Monday.

Tucson Police say the incident happened in the parking lot of Trail Dust Town in the 6500 block of East Tanque Verde Road near Kolb Road.

Police say the woman was confronted by a man with a gun as she was walking to her car.  The victim shouted for help and two Trail Dust Town employees came to her aid.  They strugged with the suspect and the gun discharged during the struggle.  One of the employees was struck in the leg.  The suspect fled.

Police say the injuries are minor.  Sgt. Matt Ronstadt says he was transported to a local hospital but will likely be treated and released.

Police identify the suspect as a black male in his 20's with an average build.  He's described as 5'6" to 5'9" tall last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and armed with a semi automatic pistol.

A nearby school, La Paloma Academy, was placed on lockdown while authorities searched for the suspect.

Fox 11 crews on scene reported the employee was carrying a bank deposit, but that has not yet been confirmed by police.  There were unconfirmed reports of money blowing around in the area following the assault.  Fox 11 crews reported the suspect jumped a fence to get away.
