Fire displaces two on Tucson's south east side; Arson at midtown car washPosted: Updated:
This holiday week is starting off somewhat somber for two Tucsonans, after a fire broke out at their home Sunday morning. This happened a little before noon in the Rita Ranch neighborhood.
Resident Daniel Diaz was able to get his dog and a few valuable out of the house before firefighters arrived.
It took firefighters about 20 minutes to put the flames out.
"We just want to remind everyone as the holidays and winter seasons approach, look at your heaters, make sure you don't have any combustible materials anywhere within 3 feet of a heating appliance," said Capt. Trish Tracy of the Tucson Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
There was also a fire at Simoniz Car Wash on First Avenue. Firefighters say it was arson. It happened Saturday Night just before 10 P.M.
The back of the building had the most damage. Investigators say the storage area and employee break room were set on fire.
No one was hurt.
