PHOENIX – Dozens of people were evacuated after an elevator motor sparked a fire inside a high-rise building in Phoenix.

The Phoenix Fire Department says 50 people were evacuated from the Esplanade II located at 24th Street and Camelback just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Most of the people who work in the building had gone home for the day when the motor caused the fire.

The Esplanade II is a 14-story building. Eleven of those floors are occupied by businesses. No one was injured as a result of this incident.
