NTSB investigating Ryan Airfield crashPosted: Updated:
We have new information Monday night on the weekend crash at Ryan Field west of Tucson. It took the life of a student pilot.
Members of the National Transportation Safety Board spent today breaking down every piece of the Cessna that crashed yesterday at Ryan Airfield.
"Right now we're going through the aircraft, methodically going through all the aircraft systems, flight controls, engine, instrumentation," said NTSB Investigator Joshua Cawthra.
Stewart John Henderson, 56, was piloting the aircraft, alone, when it crashed less than a hundred feet before the runway.
A spokesman with the NTSB confirms Henderson was a flight student and investigators are now gathering information on his flight experience.
The agency has not concluded whether the accident was due to pilot error or mechanical failure.
