Former Mesa bus driver accused of child molestation

MESA, Ariz. -- A child molestation suspect is behind bars accused of fondling a 9-year-old girl outside of her home.

On Nov. 11, the girl's father looked out their home's window and noticed that his daughter was standing by a silver Toyota passenger car.

The father saw the adult male driver, Billy Bryant, 62, grab his daughter on her right buttock and went outside to confront the driver.

When he approached the car, his daughter was sitting in the front passenger seat. The father pulled her out of the car and began yelling at Bryant.

Bryant then drove away.

According to the police report, another young girl was in the car prior to the victim entering the vehicle. The report also states that Bryant used a green massager to touch the victim.

The victim's father gave police the license plate number along with information that Bryant frequently visits a family in the neighborhood and is known as Mr. Bill.

The little girl told police that Bryant also touched her vaginal area over her clothing while she was sitting in the front passenger seat.

Bryant was booked for two counts of child molestation and charged with aggravated assault for grabbing the girl's buttocks outside of the car.

Police have learned that Bryant was a suspect in another child molestation case from last year, but that case was inactivated because of insufficient evidence.

At that time, Bryant was a bus driver for Legacy Charter School, so detectives believe there might be other victims yet to come forward.

The Mesa Police Department is asking anyone with information to call 480-644-2211.
