PHOENIX - Xavier's Sarah Falkler won the girls Division I cross country championships on Saturday at Cave Creek Golf Course. The sophomore placed third in state last year. Sarah's individual win helped the Gators take home the team title.

The Xavier girls were also winning in the pool last weekend. The 200-yard freestyle team of Sarah Graif, Kayra Zsiga, Talie Anchustegui and Alisha Bender broke a 17-year-old state record. That was one of many medals Xavier won in route to their 25th state team title in swimming and diving.

And finally Desert edge Senior Tyler Messerschmidt broke Gary Hall Jr's record in the 100-yard freestyle set back in 1994. He also broke his own record in the 200-yard freestyle to finish out a great swimming career.
