MESA, Ariz. -- The Mesa Police Department is conducting a DUI investigation after a teen drove into the front yard of a home Sunday morning.

According to Sgt. Ed Wessing, Lanae Cummins, 18, of Mesa, was driving a Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Longmore at approximately 5 a.m. and failed to stop at a T-intersection south of Baseline Road.

Cummins drove into the front yard of a home on Kiowa Avenue, damaging the landscaping and hitting a large tree that was pushed into the home. The house and Cummins' vehicle were damaged.

Cummins was transported to a local hospital. No one in the home was injured.

Wessing said there were no skid marks on the street, which indicated that Cummins did not attempt to stop.

Wessing said Cummins appeared to have been extremely impaired by alcohol. The accident is still under investigation.
