MCSO raids business for illegal immigrants, ID theftPosted: Updated:
EL MIRAGE, Ariz. - Maricopa County sheriff's deputies conducted an immigration raid at a business in El Mirage early Monday morning.
Aerial footage showed about eight people in handcuffs being questioned at Nunez Creative Landscaping near Peoria Avenue and El Mirage Road.
MCSO said they were tipped off that at least half of the people working at the landscaping company may be in the country illegally and using stolen identities to gain employment.
According to MCSO, they have identified 26 out of 52 employees that may be using false identification.
Seventeen people were taken into custody Monday morning for either being in this country illegally or having fake ids.
Deputies believe that 11 workers are suspected of using false identification to gain employment.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio is expected to hold a press conference on the raid.
