Cindy McCain discusses gays in military, bullying in new online video

PHOENIX – A new online video has been published in which Cindy McCain talks about gays in the military and anti-bullying.

McCain has spoken out on same-sex equality in the past but now she is vocally laying blame on leadership in the United States in the video by a group called No Hate.

In the video she says, “Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future.”

Sen. John McCain has long opposed a repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy. Sen. McCain is in Afghanistan so he could not be reached for comment.

The co-founder of the California-based NOH8 group says, “We thought who better to send this message than someone in politics, someone who’s dealt with government and lived this life and can actually attest to it, and she was happy to say those lines.”

Cindy McCain and her daughter Megan have appeared in photographs for NOH8 in the past and Cindy has opposed Sen. McCain’s views on issues such as gay marriage.
