30 Dogs, 3 cats rescued from 'deplorable' conditions in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Over two dozen dogs and several cats were rescued Friday from a home where the Humane Society says they were living in deplorable conditions.
Immediately after being rescued, the pets were seen by doctors to make sure they are healthy enough to survive before being taken to the South Mountain shelter.
The animals were rescued from a home located near Seventh Street and Interstate 17.
Neighbors called the Humane Society after one of the dogs escaped from the home and was seen eating out of their trash.
Investigators responded and discovered 30 dogs and 3 cats in cages or filthy crates. None of the animals had access to food or water.
The homeowner faces charges including medical neglect and cruelty or mistreatment.
