Calgary Flames hockey player arrested for punching cab driver in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A Calgary Flames hockey player was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly punching a cab driver outside a Scottsdale bar.

Officers patrolling near Miller and Camelback roads at approximately 2 a.m. observed a disturbance outside American Junkie bar and contacted an apparently intoxicated man. The man was identified as Brett Sutter, 23, of the Calgary Flames.

Witnesses told police that Sutter punched a male cab driver. The victim was not seriously injured.

Sutter was arrested and charged with simple assault. He was later released on bond.

Sutter was ordered to appear for his initial court date, which will be in the next few weeks.

The Flames are in the Valley for Friday night's game with the Phoenix Coyotes.
