SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A man who ran a red light, crashed and fled the scene is blaming a new designer drug known as “spice” for the incident.

Police say Zachary Snow, 29, was driving eastbound on Thomas Road when he crashed into three vehicles stopped at the street light at Scottsdale Road Thursday at about 7:30 a.m.

Witnesses tell Scottsdale police that Snow, a Glendale resident, was driving at a high rate of speed in a silver Honda when he ran two red lights before colliding with the vehicles stopped at a red light on Scottsdale Road.

Snow reportedly climbed out of the sunroof of his damaged vehicle after the crash and fled on foot into a shopping plaza.

Officers found him a short time later inside a bagel shop where he was taken into custody.

Police say Snow told them he had just ingested “spice” prior to driving and could not remember the incident clearly.

The suspect faces charges including leaving the scene of an injury collision. Tests are being conducted to determine what caused his impairment.

None of the victims in the three cars Snow crashed into were seriously hurt.
