Family of teen shot, killed makes tearful plea to find his killerPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) - The family of a 13-year-old boy who was gunned down at random while on a morning jog is pleading for the public's help in finding the killer.
Speaking in front of a memorial of Teddy bears, personal notes and a football, Jonathan Garcia's family said Wednesday that they need closure and justice.
Garcia's stepfather, Isaac Espinoza, says Jonathan was a dedicated student and had recently started running to play flag football with his friends.
Jonathan left for a run from his house in east Phoenix on Sunday, and a half-hour later he was shot and killed. No witnesses or suspects in the shooting have been identified, and police believe it's a random incident.
Police said Wednesday there had been no breaks in the case.
