2 Mail collection boxes stolen in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- For the second time in less than a week, someone stole a blue mail collection box in Phoenix.
A collection box was reported missing from 15th Street and Missouri Avenue in Phoenix Monday morning. The last collected mail from the box was at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. Mail theft carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.
Another blue collection box was stolen either late Thursday or early Friday near Central Avenue and Thomas Road. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of that suspect.
The Postal Service is installing a replacement collection box at each location.
Anyone with information regarding the thefts is asked to call 1-877-876-2455 and choose option 5.
Customers can call the Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455 and select option 3 to file a mail theft complaint.
