Phoenix motorcycle officer involved in early morning crashPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A Phoenix motorcycle officer was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital after an early morning wreck in Central Phoenix Friday.
It happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Camelback Road near Seventh Street.
According to police, the 35-year-old female officer hit a car that had pulled in front of her.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department said the 30-year-old man behind the wheel of that car was trying to make a left turn. He pulled across all of the lanes of traffic on Camelback Road, right into the motorcycle's path. The officer, a 14-year veteran of the force, T-boned the car.
The Phoenix Fire Department said the officer was alert and talking when she was taken to the hospital. Her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
The driver of the car did stay on the scene.Police have not released his name, nor the name of the officer.
Police said charges are pending.
