Tucsonans get economic outlookPosted: Updated:
Exit poll after exit poll Tuesday revealed voters were deeply concerned about the economy, but according to a local economist they could be waiting a while for it to get better.
Speaking in front of Tucsonans Wednesday at the westword look resort, local economist John Lucking gave his outlook on what we should expect with a new congress and a new year.
"It's a slow slog recovery and the basic problem is consumers are the bulk of the economy and consumers dont have a lot of resources and job that doesn't act as an engine of growth," said Lucking.
In fact, Lucking doesn't see much change from now and this time next year. Growth and recovery may not come until sometime in 2012. Even after the national bureau of economic research said the recession was over more than a year ago.
