Police make arrest in 2009 murder, arson case in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Police say they have made an arrest in a March 2009 murder and arson case.
Officers took Curtis Parker into custody Tuesday afternoon in the West Valley.
He's suspected of killing Michelle Dominique at an apartment near 13th and Peoria avenues in North Phoenix. Curtis, 31, then allegedly set her apartment on fire. Back when it happened, a neighbor told 3TV that investigators were treating the fire as suspicious.
A taxi driver was driving by the small apartment complex at about 3:30 a.m. when he spotted smoke and called 911.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire, which was mostly contained to the bedroom, had mostly burned out. When crews went inside the apartment, they discovered Dominique's body.
Investigators have not said how they connected Curtis to Dominque's death and the fire at her apartment.
Parker is facing charges of second-degree murder and arson. He's being held at the Fourth Avenue Jail.
