PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- A pedestrian was hit and killed in Paradise Valley Tuesday night after a driver lost control and slammed into another vehicle.

According to police, Richard Pavese, 62, was walking near Invergordon and Chaparral roads when a BMW lost control and slammed into a Lincoln Town car. The force of the crash caused the BMW to hop the curb and hit Pavese.

There were four people riding in the Town Car driven by Craig Lesman, 42. Patrick Nissley, 25, was the sole occupant of the BMW.

Nissley was transported to a hospital in serious condition. The four adults in the Town Car were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.

Pavese, of Phoenix, died after being transported to a hospital. He was a plastic surgeon who had an office in Tempe.

Paradise Valley police continue their investigation into why the driver of the BMW lost control. At this time, there is no word if any charges will be filed.
