Body of missing bicyclist found in remote desert areaPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Police confirmed Wednesday morning that the body of a 69-year-old bicyclist who has been missing since Sunday afternoon has been found.
A family member reportedly discovered Howard Deshler's body on a trail in a desert area near 62nd Street and Dove Valley Road, which is just a few miles north of his home near 56th Street and Lone Mountain Road.
According to Tammy Rose in the news helicopter, a bike was found near the body.
Deshler was an avid bicyclist and often rode the Pima and Dynamite Trail System. Police searching for him were concerned from the beginning that he might have been injured.
Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department said Deshler's family has been notified and they are on the scene.
Police investigators will work with the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
