Neighborhood fights school bus depotPosted: Updated:
Paul Chandler lives right down the street from the Catalina Foothills School District's proposed new bus depot off River Road near Campbell Avenue.
"To have a commercial structure penetrate into a very different residential looking environment is just plain wrong," said resident Paul Chandler.
It's a quarter mile north of the current depot at district headquarters. Since September Paul and his neighbors have been fighting to stop the new construction
"I think initially they need to step back for six months to a year and engage the community in a conversation so that the community can feel like we're a part of the solution," said Chandler.
It looks like Paul's request is working. At Wednesday night's school board meeting, he and eight of his neighbors voiced their concerns in front of school board members.
The district said they would put the plan on hold to give them more time to hear from residents.
