FLORENCE, Ariz. -- A bus caught fire at an elementary school in the Florence area Wednesday while kids were waiting to be taken home at the end of the day.

The bus was picking kids up from the Magma Ranch School. It caught fire around 4:40 p.m. while still in the parking lot.

The smoke from the fire could be seen for miles in the far southeast Valley.

Teachers, along with the driver, were able to get all the students off the bus safely. Some teachers even grabbed fire extinguishers to try and put out the flames.

The bus was completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived and appeared to be a total loss.

The school had another bus take most of the kids home and others were picked up by parents who were notified of the fire via the school's automated phone service.

Investigators are still looking for a cause.
