Suspect on the loose in Mesa shooting

MESA, Ariz. -- Police are looking for a suspect after a man was shot in Mesa on Wednesday.

According to Mesa police, the suspect shot a 30- to 40-year-old man near Brown and Lindsay roads and fled.

The victim was found lying in a driveway next to a small Mazda truck. He told police officers that he arrived at the house and a Hispanic man in his mid-20s came out and shot him.

The victim gave no reason as to why he was at the house or why someone would shoot him.

Police searched the house and the neighborhood but were not able to track down the suspect.

Mesa police Sgt. Ed Wessing said based on the evidence, it appears the shooting took place inside the home.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. Wessing said he underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Mesa police are still investigating the motive in the shooting.
