Melody Skiver, UA Cooperative Extension, SCC, says the office has programs focusing on nutrition, physical activity and food safety practices. She says she speaks to elementary school children about the importance of good nutrition.  She says she explains why “snack” foods aren’t healthy and then explains the “food pyramid,” and what constitutes a healthy diet.  She says kids who are healthy typically do better in school.
