PHOENIX – A man found shot to death in the parking lot of a hotel early Sunday morning has been identified as Timothy R. Wallis, 38.

Phoenix police say the man was found at about 3 a.m. Sunday at the Premier Inns located near Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue after being shot multiple times.

Eric Haves, 27, was taken into police custody without incident.

Detectives are not sure if Wallis was staying at the hotel or if he was a patron at a nearby bar.

3TV's Ryan O'Donnell spoke to two hotel guests who say they tried to help. They say two men were taken into custody and detectives searched a nearby hotel room.

The investigation into this fatal shooting is ongoing. According to police it appears Wallis and Haves became involved in an altercation and at some point Haves shot and killed Wallis.
