Vigil held for Phoenix police sergeantPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) - A vigil was held for a Phoenix police sergeant whose body was found near the Arizona State Capitol on Monday night.
Sgt. Sean Drenth will be remembered at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ's Church of the Valley in Peoria. Honors will follow at Phoenix Memorial Park.
His family asks that in place of flowers, donations be made to the Arizona Humane Society or the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in Montana.
Police are treating Drenth's shooting death as a homicide, but there have been no arrests and no information about possible suspects has been released.
Doctors at the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office could take up to three months to release the official investigation report into the shooting.
Drenth, 35, worked for the Phoenix Police Department for 12 years as a patrolman and on the neighborhood enforcement team.
