New solar power plant to help power water water reclamation in Tucson

Posted: Updated:

It was a year in the making, but Monday a new one megawatt solar power plant powered up.

The solar power will provide 9% of the energy for the nearby Roger Road waste water reclamation facility.

The county will purchase energy produced at the power plant from Sun-Edison, which financed the project, so there was no cost to the tax payers.

The unique panels tilt east to west following the sun's trajectory, harvesting 25% more energy.
