City of Tucson may not eliminate city cablePosted: Updated:
The City of Tucson had been considering a budget plan that would likely eliminate Access Tucson and Channel 12. A new plan in the works would save significant money, but allow both operations to exist.
The new plan would call for both operations to pursue their respective missions from a common location, sharing resources.
Tucson 12 staff would relocate to Access Tucson's home at on Broadway near 6th Avenue. They would share studio space and equipment and even partner together for fundraising.
It's a cost saving measure that has been considered in the past, but now is definitely the time to save money, especially if it saves the operations.
It's not entirely clear, however, how much money the move will save. And the plan has not been given the official OK from the city.
