YUMA, Ariz. (AP) -- The Humane Society of the United States is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for cutting off the ears of a 12-week-old boxer pit bull puppy found in Yuma last week.

Yuma police say it appears as if someone used a pair of scissors or a blunt tool to cut off the dog's ears. A news release from the Humane Society says the dog is quite skinny and sickly.

The Yuma Police Department is investigating and anyone with information is asked to call authorities. Tipsters can remain anonymous. The Humane Society says cash reward may be as much as $2,500.
