Early morning fire damages kitchen at Cork 'N Cleaver restaurantPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The famed Cork 'N Cleaver restaurant in east Phoenix could be shut down for quite some time following an overnight first-alarm kitchen fire.
Phoenix fire crews were called out to the eatery near 44th Street and Camelback Road just before 4 a.m. Thursday.
They battled some flames on top of the building, but it was the large amount of smoke and the strong winds that posed the biggest problems.
Firefighters said the fire appears to have started in a refrigerated storage room.
They said the kitchen area is not operational because of the fire. There is no word on how long the Cork 'N Cleaver will be closed.
