Suspect grabs money bag from woman making deposit at Mesa bankPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -- Police are investigating a robbery after a suspect grabbed a money bag from a restaurant employee making a deposit at a Mesa bank Tuesday night.
According to Mesa police Detective Michael Melendez, the victim pulled up to the deposit box at the Compass Bank near Main Street and Greenfield Road at approximately 7:15 p.m. to deposit proceeds from the Chandler Burger King where she works.
When the victim opened her driver's side door, the suspect approached with his hands in his jacket pockets and said, "Give me the money."
The woman said the suspect repeated himself several times and then grabbed the deposit bag from her hands. The suspect was last seen running to the east.
The victim's teenage daughter was in the truck with her and both gave similar accounts of what happened. They described the suspect as a white male in his 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket, black pants and dark sunglasses.
The victim said no weapon was seen or implied.
