Arizona joins multistate foreclosure investigationPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona's attorney general says his office is part of a 47-state investigation into the mortgage industry's home foreclosure documentation.
The investigation announced Wednesday is being led by Iowa's attorney general.
Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard says the probe was prompted by disclosures of document signing practices that may have violated state laws. He says the joint investigation allows the states to pool resources.
Some banks insist they did nothing wrong. But employees of some companies have acknowledged signing thousands of foreclosure documents without reading them.
