Danna Gallardo, First Things First, SCC, says there is a question on the November 2 ballot regarding funds generated by a tax on tobacco in Arizona…funds earmarked specifically for early childhood programs. She says if approved, Proposition Prop 302 will shift these funds to the State’s general fund to help with the projected shortfall in the 2010-2011 budget.  If that happens, she says, the FTF programs would no doubt cease due to a lack of funding.  She says the Proposition suggests a new “education” office will be set up to fund early childhood programs.  But, she says, it’s unknown how much would be allocated or to what programs.
