2010 Dinner in the Stacks
On Saturday, Oct. 16th. at 6:30 pm Cocktails & Silent Auction, 8 pm Dinner & Dancing. The Phoenix Public Library continues to deliver exceptional service to the community despite recent cutbacks. Hundreds of thousands of people use the resources and programs offered by the Library to search for jobs, write resumes, work on school projects or enjoy a children’s program.  Corporate and individual donations provide financial support for programs and services not funded by tax dollars. Our mission is to support life-long learning for a stronger community.   Each fall Dinner in the Stacks is held to raise funds to support these important programs.

Since 1995 the Phoenix Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library have raised over three million dollars to fund early reading programs, cultural events, ESL and computer classes.  Dinner in the Stacks is designed to raise funds for Library programs and services like those mentioned above.  While the Library receives tax support to keep its doors open and books on the shelves, it is only by raising private funds that we can offer innovative new programs and services to the community.

This year, with your support, proceeds from Dinner in the Stacks will allow us to expand the Digital Studio program at Burton Barr Central Library, building a permanent state-of-the-art studio featuring music and video production facilities, computer game design lab and performance space.  Digital Studio is designed to help teens, 12 to 18 years of age, acquire 21st-century learning skills and prepare them for higher education and/or the work force.
