SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Police say a Scottsdale man was killed by his wife and his remains were scattered across three counties.

Dwight Tobyne's remains were reportedly spread around the state in La Paz, Pinal and Maricopa counties.

Shari Tobyne was taken into custody in August for the murder of her husband. She says she accidentally shot and killed him.

At a news conference Thursday, police said the body parts had been discovered last year and were positively identified last week using DNA from Dwight's parents.

“At this point we have not found Dwight's entire body and, out of respect for the family, we will not discuss the specific remains that were recovered," said Scottsdale police Officer David Pubins. "We can say that his body was dismembered by a saw-type tool."

Shari said she tried to hide her husband’s remains because she did not think police would believe her story. She faces charges of first-degree murder and abandoning a body.
