Fire prevention week kicked off with giveaway and chili cook off

As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Tucson Fire Department handed out free smoke detectors at four fire stations around the city Wednesday.  Station 7 got such a response they needed another shipment.

Firefighters encourage everyone to check their smoke detectors at least once a year.

A chili cook off Wednesday pitted Rural Metro Firefighters against crews from Southwest Ambulance.

The battle at Carestone assisted living in the foothills when down to the wire, or the last bite. In the end, the judges' panel made up of Carestone residents and staff chose the chili from Rural Metro.
