Border agents bust four suspects for smuggling almost 300 pounds of pot

YUMA, Ariz. – Four suspects are in custody suspected of smuggling marijuana near the Colorado River on Wednesday evening.

Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Station discovered seven people trying to enter Arizona illegally near County 11th Street and the Colorado River.

Agents tracked down the four men arrested and seized makeshift backpacks full of marijuana.

Three of the smugglers returned to Mexico to avoid arrest.

In total 294 pounds of marijuana was seized with an estimated value of $235,200.

The four suspects are in the custody of the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force.
