Wild weather in Arizona keeps emergency crews busy

A wild weather evening in the Old Pueblo kept Tucson firefighters hopping, with a few swift water rescues in some of the lower-lying areas of town.

One crew made two saves within a block of each other near Pima College downtown. No injuries reported.

The storm made for some slick streets during evening rush hour. Most people used common sense and slowed down with no serious wrecks reported.

Thunderstorms also rumbled across metro Phoenix, causing major problems including some power poles that collapsed over a stretch of interstate 17.

And flooding closed a portion of I-10 in west Phoenix while sky harbor airport was forced to delay dozens of flights.

Some areas also reported hail measuring up to a half-inch in diameter.
